prompt

A prompt can be a question, instruction, or starting point for a response. In a discussion of AI, it usually means the input given to a tool. Use lowercase. Write the actual request when that helps more than an abstract explanation of prompting.

Example: My prompt was “Suggest five titles for a story about a lost umbrella.”
